A number of reputable online shops now offer sarees. For many saree buying and online shopping does not go in hand in hand. Feeling the sarees before you buy and browsing through hundreds of sarees before you make your final decision is all part of the fun of shopping for sarees.
Lately though online saree shopping has been increasing in popularity. I decided to do some research – over the last six months bought a couple of sarees online for myself and sent a couple to family friends as gifts. I quite enjoyed the experience – my outlook about shopping for sarees online has changed. Here are the reasons why I now like to shop for sarees online (I still shop offline for my sarees but from time to time I am happy to shop online):
1. Most reputable online merchants have good shopping sites – There is detailed description of the saree, colours available, enlarged images and in some cases even an enlarged image of the blouse. So you know exactly what you will be getting.
2. The pico work is all completed before it gets delivered to you. Most sarees come with a blouse too.
3. Good service and prompt delivery. Some online merchants even have online chats.
4. No queues – no rush – did it all in the comfort of my own home. It took me about 45 minutes to shop.
5. Excellent gift idea – Also, online shops deliver for free to most parts in India.
6. Online shops also have good sales during festival times or for occasions like Mother’s day.
7. Sarees in online shops are usually of the latest trends.
Buying sarees online might no be for everyone. I was one of those too – so I totally understand. Based on my experience though, I suggest you have an open mind and you will be more than happy.
