The right pair of shades is crucial for outdoor activites

If you’re one of those folks who wear a $10 pair of sunglasses whether you are sitting on the patio at CooperSmith’s or climbing Longs Peak, you might want to rethink your eyewear.

While those el-cheapo sunglasses might be fine for around-town, your eyes might thank you if you choose a higher end pair for recreating at altitude. And if you’re going to fish, boat or enjoy snow sports, run – don’t walk – to get yourself a pair of quality polarized lenses.

You’ve probably heard that ultra-violet light, especially UVB rays, can do damage to your eyes just as they can to your skin. Long-term exposure to UV rays can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, or skin cancer around the eyelids.
