Rimless eyeglasses are one of the more popular types of eyewear available in this century. Led by improvements in the density of lenses as well as material used to manufacture lenses, rimless eyewear is now a possibility made available to consumers everywhere. This is due to the fact that lenses are now lighter and thinner, as a result of the use of plastic lenses instead of the conventional glass lenses. Therefore, rimless eyeglasses are able to sit comfortably on top of a person’s nose without the necessity for an eyeglass frame. The temples of the eyeglass are hinged onto the lenses, while a bridge connects the two lenses together.
Apart from being lightweight, rimless eye glasses also have the feature of being inconspicuous, especially for those who would prefer not to make a fashion statement with their eyeglasses. Although, rimless eyeglasses have the impression of being fragile, they are made to withstand a fair amount of hits. This is achieved through the layers of special coatings applied onto the lenses with the edges of rimless glasses polished to a glossy finish.
One of the methods to differentiate one rimless eyeglass from another would be the shape of the lenses. Carved in different shapes and sizes, the shapes of the lenses may be selected by the wearer based on how it suits the shape of the face. Some lenses may be further customized through the use of different shades in the lenses. However, if comfort is of top priority, then titanium temples offers the greatest flexibility in rimless eyeglass wear, as they are practically weightless and can be bent back and forth. All of these increase the comfort levels of the wearer, with the rimless eyeglasses practically molded onto the face and ears.
